MIDROC Opens 1 Billion Birr Arjo Coal Plant

MIDROC Investment Group has launched a 1 billion birr coal processing plant in Arjo, East Wollega, with a capacity of 1.2 million tons per year.

The facility processes 200 tons per hour and will supply cement, steel, textile, and other industries.

The project created 250 permanent jobs and replaces Ethiopia’s annual coal imports of up to 2.3 million tons with domestic production.

Officials say the plant uses a chemical free process and supports sustainable industrial growth.
